I was very struck by how little of my life found echo in them although they had accompanied me too.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With&nbsp;<strong>no<\/strong>&nbsp;fi<strong>del<\/strong>ity to my&nbsp;<strong>nat<\/strong>al&nbsp;<strong>site<\/strong>,&nbsp;<br>I was not&nbsp;<strong>honed<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>heft<\/strong>ed,&nbsp;<strong>hearthed<\/strong>, nor impr<strong>in<\/strong>ted.&nbsp;<br>So&nbsp;<strong>no<\/strong>&nbsp;be<strong>long<\/strong>ing, no fa<strong>mil<\/strong>iar&nbsp;<strong>land<\/strong>scape,&nbsp;<br>(Its&nbsp;<strong>in<\/strong>timacies,&nbsp;<strong>its<\/strong>&nbsp;par<strong>tic<\/strong>u<strong>lar<\/strong>ities)&nbsp;<br>No&nbsp;<strong>past<\/strong>oral&nbsp;<strong>id<\/strong>yll, no&nbsp;<strong>sig<\/strong>nature&nbsp;<strong>smells<\/strong>,<br>Just&nbsp;<strong>grief<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>loss<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>mean<\/strong>ing and&nbsp;<strong>mem<\/strong>ory.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No\u00a0<strong>con<\/strong>tours,\u00a0<strong>no<\/strong>\u00a0tri<strong>ang<\/strong>u<strong>lat<\/strong>ion, <br>No\u00a0<strong>north<\/strong>ings and\u00a0<strong>east<\/strong>ings for\u00a0<strong>or<\/strong>ien<strong>ta<\/strong>tion, <br>No\u00a0<strong>sing<\/strong>le\u00a0<strong>place<\/strong>, no\u00a0<strong>an<\/strong>chor, no\u00a0<strong>root<\/strong>edness,\u00a0 <br>No\u00a0<strong>place<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0<strong>know<\/strong>\u00a0and no\u00a0<strong>place<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0<strong>know<\/strong>\u00a0me, <br>No\u00a0<strong>home<\/strong>\u00a0to re<strong>turn<\/strong>\u00a0to, so no\u00a0<strong>ex<\/strong>ile\u00a0<strong>ei<\/strong>ther,\u00a0 <br>No\u00a0<strong>go<\/strong>ing to\u00a0<strong>earth<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>free<\/strong>dom disen<strong>fran<\/strong>chised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No con<strong>nec<\/strong>tions,\u00a0<strong>re<\/strong>-con<strong>nect<\/strong>ions,\u00a0<strong>touch<\/strong>stones,\u00a0 <br>No\u00a0<strong>con<\/strong>ver<strong>sat<\/strong>ions that are\u00a0<strong>soft<\/strong>\u00a0trans<strong>act<\/strong>ions, <br>Nothing to\u00a0<strong>slow<\/strong>\u00a0the\u00a0<strong>pace<\/strong>\u00a0nor\u00a0<strong>speed<\/strong>\u00a0it\u00a0<strong>up<\/strong>,\u00a0 <br>No\u00a0<strong>earn<\/strong>estness to ex<strong>plain<\/strong>, ex<strong>plore<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>cel<\/strong>ebrate,\u00a0 <br>To\u00a0<strong>mark<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>gal<\/strong>vanise\u00a0<strong>or<\/strong>\u00a0com<strong>mis<\/strong>erate,\u00a0 <br>No\u00a0<strong>mess<\/strong>ages.\u00a0<strong>Yet<\/strong>\u00a0com<strong>mun<\/strong>ity of\u00a0<strong>sorts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What&nbsp;<strong>was<\/strong>&nbsp;my \u2018out<strong>doors<\/strong>\u2019? A&nbsp;<strong>long<\/strong>ing, a&nbsp;<strong>griev<\/strong>ing,&nbsp;<br>A&nbsp;<strong>yearn<\/strong>ing&nbsp;<strong>may<\/strong>be but&nbsp;<strong>no<\/strong>&nbsp;no<strong>stal<\/strong>gia,<br>No&nbsp;<strong>earth<\/strong>bound&nbsp;<strong>pre<\/strong>mo<strong>nit<\/strong>ions, no&nbsp;<strong>ghosts<\/strong>,<br>No&nbsp;<strong>wild<\/strong>&nbsp;fa<strong>mil<\/strong>iars, no&nbsp;<strong>cust<\/strong>om, no&nbsp;<strong>na<\/strong>ture,&nbsp;<br>The&nbsp;<strong>world<\/strong>&nbsp;be<strong>come<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>nei<\/strong>ther&nbsp;<strong>in<\/strong>timate nor&nbsp;<br><strong>In<\/strong>finite.&nbsp;<strong>No<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong><em>hi<\/em><\/strong><em>raeth<a href=\"applewebdata:\/\/9832CB27-7A9D-4F1F-B359-76218EB2CFBE#_ftn1\"><sup><strong>[1]<\/strong><\/sup><\/a><\/em>, no&nbsp;<em>cy<strong>nef<\/strong>in<a href=\"applewebdata:\/\/9832CB27-7A9D-4F1F-B359-76218EB2CFBE#_ftn2\"><sup><strong>[2]<\/strong><\/sup><\/a><\/em>.<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p><em>NOTE TO READER: Emphasise <strong>the bold<\/strong>. I&#8217;m striving here for an <\/em>anapestic tetrameter<em> [dada<strong>daa<\/strong>, dada<strong>daa<\/strong>, etc], but some <\/em>iambs<em> and <\/em>trochees<em> x4 are mixed in, so it doesn\u2019t quite scan.
